Kennedy is a Los Angeles acting coach who specializes in Physical Acting Techniques & Voice Techniques for actors.
Kennedy offers classes, workshops, and private coaching for Actors in Film, TV, & Theatre in LA, Mexico City, Vancouver, Asia, and Europe. His creative and accessible approach allows actors to connect to their roles in a powerful and authentic way- to discover the life in the performance.
For the past 16 years Kennedy was Head of the Physical Acting Program at the Stella Adler Academy, in Los Angeles. In addition, he has been a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Theatre & Dance at Cal State University, Fullerton.
He developed his fascination for the power of the Body & Voice in acting when he was a young actor studying at New York’s National Shakespeare Conservatory- which had a rigorous program that emphasized Movement, Voice and Text.
His respect for the actors’ process grew during his years as a member of New York’s Jean Cocteau Repertory theatre- an award winning classical acting company. While there he performed in a demanding repertoire of classical and contemporary productions by authors as varied as: Euripides, Shakespeare, Moliere, Ibsen, Chekov, Shaw, Brecht, Pirandello and Beckett, among many others.
During this time, Kennedy met Fay Simpson, founder of the Lucid Body Movement Technique, whom he has collaborated with for over 30 years. He began applying the principles of the Lucid Body to his work as a professional actor and he also began applying the techniques to his teaching and directing work as a faculty member at the Stella Adler Studio in New York.
Today, Kennedy is one of the leading instructors of the Lucid Body. In LA, he has explored adapting the Technique- along with other compatible techniques- to the world of Film & TV. He is passionate about bringing the transformational possibilities- as well as the depth and spontaneity that are accessible through this approach- to today’s actors.
